About me

I create Little Blue Hug soft toys from second-hand denim with a history. Every pair of jeans has already lived a life; instead of being discarded, the fabric is given a new purpose. I handcraft these sturdy jeans into a soft cuddly toy. No two are exactly alike.

In the beginning

The first stuffed animal I made from an old pair of jeans was a little hare. I was surprised by how soft it was and how sweet it looked. I also noticed how enthusiastically the people around me reacted to the other stuffed animals I started making. A smile immediately appears on their faces.

My favorites

Two stuffed animals are my favorites: the monkey and the frog. I sold the frog to a friend who made a banjo for it. Another friend knitted a sweater for her monkey.

My workplace

This is where Little Blue Hug plush toys come to life. The process begins by cutting pre-loved denim jeans into pieces of fabric. A pattern is then placed on the fabric, and each part of the plush toy is carefully cut out by hand. The pieces are sewn together using a sewing machine and filled with soft fiberfill. Next, the facial features and expressions are embroidered by hand, giving each character its own unique personality. Finally, depending on the design, miniature outfits and accessories are created to complete the plush toy.

From start to finish, every Little Blue Hug is handcrafted with care, making each one a unique and sustainable companion.
